Advocacy and Awareness
The Anna Trust steps forward boldly on the global stage to advocate for the dignity and wellbeing of Catholic sisters as they age, and to advocate boldly so that all nations ensure that the elderly in all communities are cared for with respect and love.
PARTICIPATION IN THE INTERNATIONAL EVENTS IN 2025
- Participation in the Plenary Assembly of the International Union Superiors General (UISG), a triennial assembly that takes place in Rome and welcomes and brings together almost 1000 superiors general from all over the world, in May 2025. During the week, which included conferences and group work that actively involved the superiors general, the Foundation was officially presented with a specific intervention involving the President of the Foundation, a member of the Board of Directors and a founding member. During the week, in the same venue as the assembly, a space dedicated to the Foundation was set up, which was able to meet the Superiors General, present the objectives and activities of the Foundation, distribute dissemination materials and promote subscription to the quarterly newsletter.
- Participation in the Second World Conference on Aging and Gerontology, held in Rome in July 2025 during which the Foundation, represented by Sr. Siobhán O'Keeffe, SS. HJM, Director of the Cognitive Impairment Program, presented the report entitled "Meeting the Holistic Care Needs of Catholic Women Religious Today," an overview of the characteristics of female religious life and the special care needs that sisters may highlight in old age.
- Presentation at the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation's Latin America Conference in Mexico City, with the goal of increasing Catholic Sisters' awareness and understanding of educational opportunities and upcoming grant initiatives.
