Greeting from the Chair

“The elderly are a treasure for our society.”

Pope Francis

Pope Francis captured the spirit of The Anna Trust Foundation precisely. Our aging sisters are a treasure that we, who stand on the shoulders of their selfless ministry, must protect and value.

The Anna Trust, named after the Prophetess Anna who committed her adult life to God and witnessed the Presentation of Jesus, is dedicated to our elderly sisters now and in the future. It is a privilege.

For The Anna Trust, that dedication has many dimensions. We must accompany our sisters spiritually as they live out their consecration.

We must continue to be one with them in community. Loneliness is one of the greatest burdens in aging, and we must learn how to ensure that our sisters remain a vibrant part of our community even as they step back from active ministry.

We must advocate for our elderly sisters within our ministries and the communities we serve. We must take the treasure of their lives and lift it up publicly.

And finally, of course, we must guard their health and ensure that health care meets their needs.

The sum of all of this is dignity in aging. In spirit, in mind, and in body. This is the mission of The Anna Trust. This is our dedication. This is our passion. While our primary focus is on our aging sisters, we believe that our efforts for them, can influence society’s overall approach to aging and to the elderly. Perhaps in this change of eras, their wisdom, lived experience, insights and prayerful accompaniment are more needed than ever.

I invite you to join with us in serving our sisters. I invite you to treasure them, to support them, and to pray with us for them and for the grace that their presence among us brings to all of us.
