The Anna Trust Foundation announced
We are honored to announce the creation of The Anna Trust Foundation for Elderly Sisters’ Care, founded by the International Union of Superiors General, the Sisters of Our Lady Apostles, The Missionary Sisters of the Precious Blood, The Congregation of Jesus Mary Joseph, and The Sisters of St. Joseph Benedict Cottolengo.
The Anna Trust was created through support from The Catholic Sisters Initiative of the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, with initial additional support from The Hilton Fund for Sisters, the Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, and the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, respected civil rights leader in America, once said, “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.”
The Anna Trust Foundation knows that the arc of aging is long, but we are dedicated to ensuring that it bends toward dignity for all sisters.
The Anna Trust is dedicated to all sisters globally.
- Our Mission is to support the collective efforts of congregations globally, especially those in vulnerable situations. We commit to ensure a healthy, dignified aging process for the sisters, one that respects their continued wisdom in ministry and meets their long-term needs.
- Our Vision is a Catholic sisterhood of health, love, and spiritual strength at all ages and in all conditions in which sisters live and serve. Our vision is that the dignity and wellbeing thus experienced by Catholic sisters will flow through to the communities that sisters serve, resulting in respect for and promotion of the dignity of all elderly around the world.
- Our Values are bold and clear. s built on a foundation of respect for life at all of its stages.
- We value all dimensions of the health of our elderly Catholic sisters.
- We value spirituality and the continuous deepening of the relationship with Christ Our Savior.
- We value community and thus the accompaniment of elderly sisters on their journey by sisters of all ages.
- We value wisdom and hence the continuous engagement of elderly sisters in support of ministries even as the nature of that support changes with age.
- Our Focus is our elderly sisters, today and in the future. And in that future, we will all find ourselves. So, our focus is the global sisterhood.
- Our Result is to ensure sustainable systems for care for our elderly sisters, we will free our younger sisters to continue with the critical work of our ministries to those in need, in service to Christ.
The Anna Trust is a change agent. We want to be a leader in creating and supporting solutions that serve sisters sustainably and with dignity. The Anna Trust is not only about small steps to meet our needs today, it is about the opportunity to turn small steps into giant leaps in caring for our sisters now and in the future.
- Our education, training and research efforts will focus on ensuring that sisters globally have, and continue to have access to, best-in-class knowledge and skills for elder care
- Our grantmaking programs will support financial and service planning and innovative models of collaboration among congregations that will ensure efficiency and sustainability of services for our elderly sisters
- Our advocacy efforts will press for dignity not just for our Catholic sisters, but for the elderly in the communities in need that our sisters serve.
The education programs of The Anna Trust will begin in the autumn of 2025, and grantmaking will begin in 2026.
